In March of 2020, just two months after The Seattle Public Library celebrated the elimination of overdue fines, we found ourselves facing an uncertain future with the COVID-19 closure of Seattle libraries. Expanding Library Access During COVID

After Library buildings closed in mid-March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Library transformed every aspect of its work.

Working with partners, we provided free classes and services so people could gain skills, job resources and social connections to help them thrive.

Impact on Cultural and Civic Engagement

We provided opportunities for cultural enrichment and civic dialogue in a time of social isolation and unrest through virtual programs, pilots and investment in books that matter.

We helped small businesses and entrepreneurs navigate the complex landscape of COVID funding relief through virtual programs and partnerships.

Impact on Student Success

As students became remote learners, we shifted to offering virtual tutoring and programs, as well as physical books to those who needed them most.
