Working with the City of Seattle, we promote digital equity through our programs and services.

Equity Work at the Library

In support of our mission, we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome, valued, respected and safe in our spaces, promote intellectual freed, and celebrate diversity in our community through our spaces, collections and programs.

Intellectual Freedom

We support intellectual freedom and uphold the right of all people to freely and confidentially access information as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

LGBTQ+ Communities

We welcome and celebrate people across the LGBTQ+ spectrum. We work with local organizations and community members to offer programming for LGBTQ+ patrons and allies.

Past topics include homelessness, criminal justice, environmental equity, food justice and public health.

Race & Social Justice

We participate in the Mayor’s Race and Social Justice Initiative to promote and support racial equity in our workplace.
