Join The Seattle Public Library and former Seattle Seahawk Doug Baldwin, Jr. to celebrate small-business community champions at the first annual Intentionalist Awards. The awards will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Central Library’s Level 1 Microsoft Auditorium.

The Intentionalist Awards are free and open to the public, like all Library events, but registration is required. Register at this EventBrite link.

The Intentionalist Awards were created by Intentionalist to recognize the inspiring contributions of Main Street small businesses and the diverse people behind them. The seven Intentionalist Award categories are #CommunityOverCompetition, Community Leader of the Year, Heart of the Community, Rookie of the Year, Team Member of the Year, Cross-Cultural Champion and Legacy.

“Small businesses are so much more than the products and services for sale,” said Intentionalist CEO Laura Clise. “Intentionalist is excited to amplify and celebrate the many different ways that small businesses help to weave and reinforce the social fabric of our communities. Small-business owners are inspiring leaders who deserve to be recognized for the many ways that they make a difference.”

Former Seattle Seahawk Doug Baldwin, Jr. will host the awards and award-winning TV producer Angela Poe Russell will emcee. Join us at 5:30 p.m. to connect with other members of the community and enjoy small bites from Downtown Seattle small businesses. The formal awards ceremony will kick off at 6:30 p.m.

The Intentionalist Awards are presented by BECU with support from Seattle's Office of Economic Development, The Seattle Public Library and VLACK Media.

ALSO ON OCT. 11: FREE BUSINESS RESOURCE OPEN HOUSE

You can make a full day of celebrating and learning about small businesses by joining the Library for a free half-day learning and networking event, also on Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Titled “A Tale of Two Cities: Entrepreneurial Ecosystems that Innovate, Advocate and Collaborate in Seattle and Minneapolis,” the event will feature panel discussions highlighting stories of collaboration, success and support, as well as a business resource open house. The hybrid event will be held at the Central Library and online.

ABOUT INTENTIONALIST

Intentionalist is an online guide to intentional spending that supports small businesses and diverse local communities. It makes it easy to find and support local restaurants, bars, gyms, shops and more owned by women, people of color, veterans, members of the LGBTQ community, families and disabled people. Beyond serving as a directory, Intentionalist supports community connection through business profiles based on interviews with local business owners and meet-ups that provide the opportunity to meet them and learn about the stories behind their businesses.
