Join The Seattle Public Library and Path with Art for “Voices of Belonging,” a performance showcase of Path with Art artists from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at the Central Library in downtown Seattle (1000 Fourth Avenue).

Artists enrolled in Path with Art programs will perform a lively variety of performances connected by the theme of belonging, including the Path with Art Singers and Band, spoken word performances, podcasts, poetry and acting. The evening will also include a special Path with Art veterans choir performance in collaboration with Seattle Opera.

“Voices of Belonging,” like all Library programs, is free and open to the public. Registration is required; register at this link.

“All of the performances will celebrate the power of art to heal, uplift and bring people together,” said Kelly Skye, the Communications Manager at Path with Art. “It is more than just a performance showcase; it celebrates our shared humanity and the power of creative expression to deepen our collective sense of belonging.”

A Path with Art performance artist, Gary Nelson, reflected on what being part of this showcase has meant to him: “I am a singer, songwriter and poet. I haven’t been able to access that for a long time due to health recovery issues. Due to spinal surgery, I had to relearn how to walk and get off my medication. I wanted to sing again, and there was Path with Art. ...Having a community and creative outlet for me is spiritually uplifting.”

“Voices of Belonging” is also supported by The Seattle Public Library Foundation.

ABOUT PATH WITH ART

Path with Art fosters the restoration of individuals, groups, and society from the effects of trauma through arts engagement and community building.

Since 2008, Path with Art has been at the forefront of a growing international movement that utilizes the power of art to bring dignity, awareness, and healing to the complexities surrounding recovery from trauma.

They partner with over 65 social services organizations, such as Sound Mental Health, the WA Dept. of Veterans Affairs, and the Downtown Emergency Services Center, to help people find a path to stability through arts engagement and a supportive community.

In September 2022, they opened a new ArtHOME next to Seattle Center at 200 Mercer Street. This beautiful space has professional art and music studios along with rotating art exhibitions.
