As part of The Seattle Public Library’s commitment to language access, it has added a Getting Started website section in Traditional Chinese at spl.org/ZH-tw.

The Getting Started section includes information on how to get a Library card, how to check out materials, online Library resources and visiting Library locations. It also includes access to a print-on-demand Library card application in Traditional Chinese.

The Library already offers Getting Started pages and materials in in Simplified Chinese, and will continue to add content and materials in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

The website also has Getting Started sections in Spanish and Vietnamese, which, along with Chinese, are the non-English languages most commonly spoken by Seattle residents.

Patrons can receive transactional emails about their account in Traditional Chinese, as well as Simplified Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese. 

The Library offers many other resources and resources in languages other than English, including its World Languages Collection, with thousands of books and DVDs available for checkout; online newspapers and magazines; services such as virtual tutoring; programs such as story times and other events (go to www.spl.org/calendar and filter by language). Language kiosks at many locations carry key Library forms and materials in multiple languages.
