Do you know a child or teen who can use academic help this year? Starting the week of Sept. 11, The Seattle Public Library’s free afterschool K-12 tutoring service, Homework Help (spl.org/HomeworkHelp), will be available at nine branches: the Broadview, Columbia, Douglass-Truth, High Point, Lake City, Northgate, NewHolly, Rainier Beach and South Park branches. New this fall is Homework Help at the Broadview Branch.

To participate in Homework Help, students just need to drop by during a session at one of these branches (see the schedule below). The Library has trained volunteer tutors who can help students with math, science, English and social studies. Students without homework can read and play learning enrichment games with tutors.

“No reservations or supplies are needed – just bring your homework assignment and textbook and be prepared to learn and have fun,” said Ayan Adem, the Library’s School Age Services Manager. Homework Help sessions also offer free snacks, generously provided by The Seattle Public Library Foundation and a community partner.

The Library chose these nine locations as Homework Help sites because of community interest and their service to students and families from underserved areas of Seattle.

The Library will continue to offer virtual one-on-one tutoring through Tutor.com seven days a week, as well as many other programs and services to help students of all ages succeed.
