Seattle Reads is a “one book, one city” program, where people are encouraged to read and discuss the same book. It’s designed to deepen engagement in literature through reading and discussion.
Everyone is invited to participate in Seattle Reads by reading the featured book, joining in a book discussion, and/or attending programs with the featured writer.
Seattle Reads is a unique opportunity for the public to be exposed to new ideas and inspiration, and to have ongoing occasions to engage with these ideas through community book clubs that begin well in advance of the author’s visit to Seattle. Many local book clubs participate year after year, and hold a space in their spring calendars for the Seattle Reads title.
The Seattle Reads program helps to build connections between people through the shared foundation of reading the same book.
The Library lends hundreds of copies of the featured book to readers prior to the author's visit. Check with the Reader Services Department at the Central Library or your branch. Books are also available through the Library catalog.
